At the start of your turn, Guide can be called to draw you a new hand. You always draw 5 new cards, regardless of how big your hand was before, and since Guide is a Reserve card, it can be saved for when you most need it. So whenever an opponent plays Militia (or any other handsize attack), just call your Guide, and it's as if the Attack never happened.
Against Ghost Ship, you have the opportunity to save two of your best cards before calling Guide.
