[edit] Cleaning up bad combos

"Combo" is a very ill-defined term, and when you use it to lump things like Mine/Potion into the same class as Donate/Market Square it's not that useful, either for discussion or for strategic application. Unless anyone has a better idea, I'm in favor of keeping the general strategy text and removing almost all of the examples on this page, as most of them have either fallen to power creep or were never good ideas in the first place, and instead just listing the most well-known combos. We can start with these four, and then once the wiki improvement project is done with the card pages in ~a year we can circle back to arguing over whether more merit this designation.

  • Donate + Market Square
  • Counting House + Travelling Fair
  • Mandarin + Capital
  • Lurker + Hunting Grounds

I agree with this, but also think that Beggar + Guildhall should be included as it allows one to win the game only buying Guildhall, Beggars and Provinces. Muenstercheese (talk) 14:43, 30 August 2021 (EDT)

[edit] Philosopher's Stone/Herablist

> With every buy you bloat your deck as much as possible. You buy nothing but Coppers, Philosopher's Stones, and Herbalists. You use the Herbalist to repeatedly buy, then play, the PStone.

With that strategy, you will certainly use against anybody amassing a total of four victory points and wait until you have piled out these three cards. It is a good start to a strategy if you consider to include Provinces in it though. Also, you need Potions or Lurkers to obtain those Stones. A similar strategy is described in a dedicated article and avoids the omissions given here. 129.206.90.2 07:38, 18 December 2017 (EST)
