Strategy
Harbinger is a cantrip, which usually favors engine-types of decks. However, the ability to put something from your discard on top of your deck is not that strong in deck-drawing engines. It is best in weak engines or Big Money without Terminal Draw. Also, it is stronger with cards that need many actions, for instance Conspirator or [[Card|Vineyard}}
Synergies/Combos
- Conspirator
- Vineyard
- Big Money without terminal draw
Anti-synergies
In deck-drawing engines, Harbinger can become useless—there's likely to be nothing in your discard pile at any given time.

One day I thought, do I have any published cards that are really different from everything else in the set, that I could make new very simple versions of? I found two good candidates: Scavenger (from Dark Ages) and Herald (from Guilds). The Scavenger part I liked was getting a card from your discard pile; so Harbinger does that, with +1 Card +1 Action instead of +, and without the Chancellor part (phew). This was called Courier for a while, but people complained about there being both Courier and Courtier.
