A Mat is a piece of cardboard used by certain cards to set aside resources for future use. [[Island]] sets aside cards for the end of the game on a mat. [[Pirate Ship]] and [[Trade Route]] set aside [[Token | Tokens]] on a mat to signify future [[coins]] available for use. [[Native Village]] sets cards aside to be drawn later. [[Monument]], [[Goons]] and [[Bishop]] all set aside VP tokens to be scored at the end of the game.
