Basic cards (or Base cards) are those cards in the Supply (or players' starting decks) that are not Kingdom cards. == Basic Treasures ==
Since the publication of the Base Cards pack in 2012, basic Treasure, Victory and Curse cards have had new, individual illustrations.
*Copper is a Treasure that produces 1 when played. Coppers cost 0, meaning they are "free," although they use up a buy. Each player starts with 7 Coppers in their deck. Copper is usually not desirable in one's deck, and is usually fodder for trashers when trashers are present in the kingdom.

*Silver is a Treasure that produces 2 and costs 3. It is a common opening buy. Every kingdom card that costs 3 competes with Silver, making the "Silver test" ("Is this card really better than Silver for my deck?") something to consider.

*Gold is a Treasure that produces 3 and costs 6. It is a valuable card for many decks, and is a popular buy with 6 and 7 to spend, though buying a strong Kingdom card costing 5 or more can often be a better choice.

Like Copper, Estates are undesirable in one's deck at the beginning of the game, but unlike Copper, they can be crucial in the endgame when every point matters. For this reason, they are mainly bought at the end of games, usually when one is unable to buy a Province or Duchy.

*Province is a Victory card that gives 6 VP and costs 8. In many games, the goal is to buy as many Provinces as possible, since they are usually the most valuable victory card in every game (except in Colony games or with strong Alt-VP cards).

Curse
The Base Cards were released as their own set in June 2012, including enough cards for up to four players. The set includes all of the base cards released before Dark Ages, with new art for every card in the set. These cards can be added to the Dominion or to play with five or six players, or used to play Dominion with an expansion that does not include base cards.

*Curse is a card that gives –1 VP and costs 0. Players rarely intentionally add a Curse to their own decks, but there are cursers -- Attacks that give Curses to opponents -- and some effects that give out Curses as a penalty or drawback like Cursed Gold and Defiled Shrine. However, Curse is always in the Supply, even in games that do not include such Kingdom cards.
While the set includes Potion, Alchemy is required for Potion to have a use; and it is recommended to only use Platinum/Colony when playing with Prosperity.

Ruins are added to the Supply in games using Looters. Dark Ages also includes Shelters, cards costing 1 which can replace Estates in players' starting decks and never appear in the Supply; these may be used in games including Kingdom cards from Dark Ages.
* Nocturne includes Heirlooms, a variety of alternate Treasure cards that replace Coppers in players' starting decks when certain Kingdom cards are in use, and never appear in the Supply.

A diagram from the official rulebook, highlighting the Base cards in the Supply.
For the main game see Dominion (Base Set) and for the product containing only basic cards see Base Cards.

Basic cards (or Base cards) are those cards in the Supply (or players' starting decks) that are not Kingdom cards. Dominion (published in 2008) introduced Copper, Silver, Gold, Estate, Duchy, Province, and Curse as basic cards, and other expansions have added to their ranks.

Since the publication of the Base Cards pack in 2012, basic Treasure, Victory and Curse cards have had new, individual illustrations.

The Base Cards were released as their own set in June 2012, including enough cards for up to four players. The set includes all of the base cards released before Dark Ages, with new art for every card in the set. These cards can be added to the base set or Intrigue (First Edition) to play with five or six players, or used to play Dominion with an expansion that does not include base cards.

While the set includes Potion, Alchemy is required for Potion to have a use; and it is recommended to only use Platinum/Colony when playing with Prosperity.

In 2018, the Base Cards were reprinted with the updated formatting used in the Second Edition Base set. This reprint also gave the standalone Base Cards their own unique icon.
