The Dominion Team World Cup is an series of tournaments played between nations represented by a team of four players. The tournament is organized on the Dominion Strategy Forum, originally by Qvist. The groups followed a round-robin system and the top teams advanced to the play-off stage. The tournament debuted in 2013. The 2014 tournament was postponed until after the holiday season, taking place in 2015. After a two-year hiatus, the tournament returned in January 2018, organized by amoffett11 and Seprix.
[edit] Format
The Dominion Team World Cup has followed the same format since inception. The tournament starts with a group phase, with teams being divided into equal-sized groups. Each team plays once against every other team in their group. Every match consists of each of the four players in a team playing one match against a single opponent from the opposing team. Each of those matches consists of six games of Dominion, with both players going first three times. A victory in a player match is worth 1 point, a tie 0.5 points. These player points are added up to produce the team score. The teams are ranked on these scores, with the best teams in each group advancing to the knock-out phase. The knock-out phase is a single-elimination bracket. In case of a tie between teams, a tiebreaker replay will be played between the best players from each team.
