Lighthouse is an Action-Duration card from Seaside. It gives +1 on the turn you play it and on the turn after you play it, and also, like Moat, protects you from Attacks. Since it gives a total of +2 spread between two turns, its buying power is almost as good as Silver.

Official FAQ
* Between when you play Lighthouse and the start of your next turn, Attack cards other players play don't affect you (even if you want them to).
+
* You get an action and a coin this turn, but only a coin next turn.
* This does not prevent you from using Reactions when other players play Attacks.
+
* Attack cards played by other players don’t affect you, even if you want them to.
 +
* You could reveal Secret Chamber in order to draw 2 cards and put 2 cards from your hand back on top of your deck when an Attack card is played, and you will still not suffer from the Attack card.
 +
* You do still gain the benefits (like + Cards) of Attack cards you play on your turn.
 +
* Lighthouse is discarded during the Clean-up phase of your next turn.

Other rules clarifications
+
Other Rules clarifications
* Lighthouse only protects you from Attacks if the Lighthouse is in effect when the Attack is played, regardless of when the Attack's effects would hit you. So for example, if you get attacked by Corsair or Blockade, playing a Lighthouse afterwards will not protect you from their attacks.
+
Strategy Article
* This protects you for the rest of the turn when you play it. So for example, if after playing a Lighthouse, you gain a Duchy, this will protect you from another player's Black Cat.
+
There is no comprehensive strategy article written for Lighthouse.
With the 2022 revisions, Lighthouse's phrasing concerning its defense ability has shifted from "while in play" to "until your next turn". As a result:
+
* If you play a Lighthouse with e.g. Band of Misfits, you will be protected against Attacks until your next turn.
+
* Lighthouse offers no protection during your next turn. This means that on the turn after you play a Lighthouse, you can still get attacked by another player's Black Cat.
+
** This includes getting attacked at the start of your next turn; if you trash a Hunting Grounds with Donate and gain a Duchy, Lighthouse won't protect you from Black Cat.

Strategy
Lighthouse, like Moat, grants immunity to attacks. However, differences in the other aspects of the card make Lighthouse a much more reliable defense. In order to be protected with a Moat, it must be drawn in your 5 card hand. With Lighthouse, you must have played it at any point in the previous turn. Thus, With good card draw or deck cycling, it is much more likely to find protection from Lighthouse. Additionally, since lighthouse is non-terminal, it is much more likely to be played during your turn than Moat.
Lighthouse is a non-terminal Action and Duration card that offers virtual Cost and Attack immunity. This defensive ability is the primary reason to use Lighthouse, but in the absence of Attacks Lighthouse functions similarly to a Silver, in that it generates 2 (albeit across two turns) and is a non-terminal payload stop card.
+

+
The defense against Attacks provided by Lighthouse can be quite impactful. With sufficient deck control, you can play a Lighthouse every turn effectively rendering you completely immune to attacks. Because you’d ideally always have one in play, a pair of Lighthouses only ever amounts to one stop card that you have to draw, which is a small price to pay against attacks such as Militia, which otherwise could take as much as two Laboratory to undo. In the presence of problematic Attacks, you may want to prioritize gaining Lighthouse earlier and playing it reliably.
+

+
Compared to the other forms of Attack immunity, Lighthouse is much more reliable than hoping to draw a Moat in your starting hand, far quicker to set up than Champion, and provides twice as much Cost as Guardian does. On the other hand, however, Moat is (weak) terminal draw, Champion is an extremely strong village, and Guardian cannot be drawn dead.
+

+
Lighthouse has two main advantages over Silver in an engine. First, it is slightly cheaper (a useful factor on a 5 opening split), although this may not matter much if you are limited on gains or +Buy. Second, as Action-based payload, Lighthouse is more useful with cards that rely on such effects, such as Tactician and draw-to-X effects (e.g., Library).
+

+
Very rarely, you may prefer to be affected by an Attack (e.g., discarding cards to activate Menagerie, or trashing a Curse to Old Witch after the Curse have run out), and because Lighthouse’s protection is not optional you might opt to not play it.

The on play benefit of lighthouse offers $2 spread over this turn and next turn. This is comparable to Silver, though often somewhat weaker, as durations can miss reshuffles and generally $2 on a single turn makes it easier to afford higher priced cards. However, the difference is small enough that with any strong attack in the kingdom, Lighthouse is almost always preferable to Silver, even in 2 player.

{{Quote|Text=At the start of development, the set had no reactions. Dale wanted one and I produced a duration version of Moat. It had to have a "next turn" ability of some sort, in order to not have the timing problem of the original Cutpurse. I tried "now and next turn, +1," but using up your action just hurt the card too much. The thing is, Moat doesn't use up your action when you just stop an attack with it. You can flash the Moat, and then on your turn Remodel it or play something else. Lighthouse you had to play or it did no Moating. So it really had to have +1 Action. When I added the +1 Action, I also tried "+2 next turn" rather than +1 each turn, but that was too good. |Name=Donald X. Vaccarino
