The 2015 Dominion Team World Cup was a online team tournament. It was the second installment of the Dominion Team World Cup. The tournament, run by Qvist began on the 2nd of January 2015 and finished on 15 March 2015. The Netherlands were the defending title holders. 47 players, divided into 10 teams, entered the competition. The final was played between The Netherlands and Japan B. The Netherlands won the match 3.5 to 0.5.
Format
The 10 participating teams are divided into 2 groups of 5 teams. In each group, every team plays against every other team once. The individual matches are 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 and 4-4. Every match consists of 6 games. To mitigate first player advantage both players have to go first three times. A win is worth 1 point, and a tie 0.5. A loss does not give any points. The player with more points after 6 games wins the match. If both have 3 points, the match is a draw. A win adds 1 point to the team result, a tie 0.5. After every team has played against every other team in its group, the best two teams from both groups will advance to the play-offs. If these play-offs result in a tie, the following tie-breakers will be applied:
- The team with the most game points from individual matches advances
- If the match is still tied, the team leaders play a sudden death-match. This match follows the starting pattern A-B-B-A-A, and the first player to 3 games wins.
Sign-ups
The sign-ups had players sign up with their respective country. Once a country had at least four players, that country was eligible to compete in the main tournaments. As both Japan and the United States had a great surplus of players, both received a place for two teams in the tournament.
One nation did not participate in the 2013 edition, Russia. Three countries that did participate did not reach the threshold this year, Australia, Canada and Sweden. Belgium did not compete with France, as France had four players of its own.
