Daimyo is an ActionCommand card from Rising Sun. It is a Throne Room variant that allows you to draw a card before playing the card you Throne, but it doesn't work on itself or other Command cards.

FAQ

Official FAQ

  • This isn't optional; whatever that next non-Command Action card is, Daimyo replays it. It replays it even if the card trashed itself.
  • Command cards, such as Daimyo itself, are not replayed; Daimyo waits for a non-Command Action card (or fails to do anything more if the turn ends before you play one).
  • If you play two Daimyos and then e.g. a Craftsman, you'll play the Craftsman three times total - once normally and once for each Daimyo.
  • Daimyo costs 6D; see the Debt section.

Trivia

Secret History

The initial idea was a cantrip Throne Room for 8D. It's too confusing when used on itself, and also too powerful when used on itself. We know how to Throne Thrones, we'd get that part right; but I personally had endless trouble remembering all of the draws you get in the middle of other things happening. The fix was to make it a Flagship. It can't play itself, and it's just overall simpler and fairer, while also being nicely different from Flagship.
