"ASS Altenburger" is the brand name of a playing card manufacturer located in Altenburg, a city in Thuringia, Germany. They are known to produce the English boxes containing metal tokens. Although they act only as distributor of the German versions for RGG as publisher, solely ASS is responsible for them since the breakup between RGG and HiG.

Ass is German for ace. ASS is the acronym of "Altenburger und Stralsunder Spielkartenfabriken", reminiscing several manufacturers of playing cards located there.
