[edit] Intro text

Unexpected events unfold in the remote regions of your kingdom in the final Adventure of Hinterlands!

[edit] Game 1 vs. Serf Mary

You enjoyed your holiday with your love, but you need some "me time." You find a guide to take you south, beyond the border of your kingdom. Going with you are a few guards and your trusty aide. Things have been quiet for a while, and you're not expecting any trouble.

Kingdom cards: Crossroads, Farmland, Fool's Gold, Oracle, Spice Merchant, Adventurer, Chancellor, Festival, Laboratory, Remodel

[edit] Game 2 vs. Serf Archer

Your cartographer has given you a fine map, with your kingdom of Vaccara prominently displayed in the middle. The lands to the south don't show much detail, save for a couple of monsters. Hopefully they're just "artistic license."

Kingdom cards: Duchess, Silk Road, Cache, Jack of all Trades, Mandarin, Cartographer, Workshop, Village, Market, Bureaucrat

[edit] Game 3 vs. Maiden Lettice

Vaccara is a large and beautiful kingdom, and you're proud of its grandeur. You've crossed verdant valleys, lovely streams, and majestic mountain ranges. After weeks of tranquility, you near the southern border.

Kingdom cards: Develop, Noble Brigand, Tunnel, Ill-Gotten Gains, Haggler, Inn, Oasis, Witch, Moneylender, Moat

[edit] Boss Game 4 vs. Squire Ronin

Just across the border is a town; you stop for supplies. The townspeople are in a frenzy. "Dragon is coming! Run for your lives!" Is this one of the monsters illustrated on your map? The people are truly terrified, and you see smoke in the distance.

Kingdom cards: Border Village, Embassy, Nomad Camp, Highway, Scheme, Margrave, Trader, Stables, Throne Room, Cellar

[edit] Game 5 vs. Serf Crispin

This isn't supposed to be a fighting vacation, so you leave with the townspeople, heading back across the border into Vaccara. Hopefully this dragon understands political boundaries and won't come flying after you.

Kingdom cards: Cache, Crossroads, Develop, Haggler, Jack of all Trades, Margrave, Nomad Camp, Oasis, Spice Merchant, Stables

[edit] Game 6 vs. Maiden Lynna

You learn from the refugees that the dragon is "Dragon," a ruthless warlord who has been razing villages and slaughtering all who would not join his army. Dragon has conquered many small principalities and has amassed himself quite a fortune in plundered gold and treasures.

Kingdom cards: Border Village, Cartographer, Develop, Duchess, Farmland, Ill-Gotten Gains, Noble Brigand, Silk Road, Stables, Trader

[edit] Game 7 vs. Squire Allister

Dragon's lands seem very nice (even though your visit in his domain was brief). The people also seem very nice, and they deserve better; maybe you can do a little fighting for the sake of the downtrodden (and expand your kingdom at the same time).

Kingdom cards: Border Village, Cache, Duchess, Fool's Gold, Haggler, Highway, Nomad Camp, Scheme, Spice Merchant, Trader

[edit] Boss Game 8 vs. Lady Kateryn and Maiden Lettice

You have a plan, and the first step is to find Dragon's base camp. You learn of a little-used forest path and begin your covert offensive. You and your troops stumble upon an encampment of soldiers. Are they on the run from Dragon?

Kingdom cards: Cartographer, Crossroads, Embassy, Inn, Jack of all Trades, Mandarin, Nomad Camp, Oasis, Oracle, Tunnel

[edit] Game 9 vs. Maiden Joya

Duke Jack, the soldiers' leader, tells you that these lands had been his until Dragon's more powerful army moved in. He's but one of many minor royals whose lands have been taken.

Kingdom cards: Great Hall, Nobles, Crossroads, Silk Road, Jack of all Trades, Embassy, Fool's Gold, Scheme, Ill-Gotten Gains, Nomad Camp

[edit] Game 10 vs. Squire Tarquin

When a good opportunity presents itself, you're always interested. You make a deal with Duke Jack: if you rout Dragon and return Jack's dukedom, you can annex the Duke's lands into Vaccara. Duke Jack agrees, and he and his soldiers join your group.

Kingdom cards: Duke, Upgrade, Duchess, Border Village, Spice Merchant, Develop, Oasis, Stables, Margrave, Noble Brigand

[edit] Game 11 vs. Lady Tilla

Conquering armies often succeed not because of superior forces, but because of superior finances. You need to find Dragon's storehouse and throttle his flow of gold.

Kingdom cards: Sea Hag, Island, Silk Road, Jack of all Trades, Trader, Inn, Cartographer, Duchess, Ill-Gotten Gains, Cache

[edit] Boss Game 12 vs. Gentleman Alvar and Lady Florence

Duke Jack has heard that Dragon's treasure is kept in a cave under Mount Maunganui. Evidently most of Dragon's men are off doing their plundering, because the storehouse was very lightly guarded. You take the treasure without much struggle.

Kingdom cards: Smugglers, Wharf, Border Village, Haggler, Develop, Trader, Cache, Highway, Crossroads, Nomad Camp

[edit] Game 13 vs. Squire Solomon

Some of your guards start work on a more substantial base camp; if there's going to be a battle, you want a walled fort. Hewn trees will have to substitute for stone ramparts. It's not the perfect defense, but it's better than nothing, and you've definitely fought with worse.

Kingdom cards: Quarry, Grand Market, Highway, Scheme, Spice Merchant, Mandarin, Stables, Develop, Silk Road, Farmland

[edit] Game 14 vs. Lady Thomasine

Duke Jack is already beside himself with glee; he can't wait to witness Dragon's downfall. You have some weapons, you have determined soldiers, and Dragon's war-chest fortune is now in your camp. You think that your odds of winning are pretty good.

Kingdom cards: Bishop, Hoard, Farmland, Tunnel, Oasis, Border Village, Haggler, Duchess, Ill-Gotten Gains, Crossroads

[edit] Game 15 vs. Gentleman Benjamin

Your scouts bring word that Dragon's army is on the move. A few of the displaced villagers have joined your troops; they aren't afraid to fight when the battle is righteous. Dragon must be defeated!

Kingdom cards: Feodum, Procession, Trader, Border Village, Noble Brigand, Tunnel, Fool's Gold, Stables, Nomad Camp, Cartographer

[edit] Boss Game 16 vs. Lady Thomasine, Squire Solomon, and Maiden Lia

After nightfall, you finally see your enemy's army approaching, illuminated by torchlight. Dragon doesn't seem to be among them, and they're not carrying weapons, but buckets. Perhaps Dragon knows you won't fire on unarmed men? Suddenly, the enemy soldiers douse your wooden fort with liquid from the buckets and throw their torches. Your fort is on fire!

Kingdom cards: Poor House, Fortress, Develop, Trader, Margrave, Spice Merchant, Cartographer, Farmland, Oasis, Oracle

[edit] Game 17 vs. Lady Ellen

Your fort is lost to the flames, but your soldiers manage an escape to the forest. The treasure is still in the smoldering rubble...somewhere.

Kingdom cards: Noble Brigand, Fool's Gold, Cache, Haggler, Nomad Camp, Develop, Spice Merchant, Mandarin, Border Village, Highway

[edit] Game 18 vs. Gentleman Ingvar

Dragon sends an envoy demanding that you come alone and appear before his army. Is this supposed to intimidate you? To be honest, well, it does. This battle hasn't gone the way you wanted, but maybe you can figure something out.

Kingdom cards: Margrave, Tunnel, Spice Merchant, Stables, Fool's Gold, Cartographer, Crossroads, Cache, Highway, Farmland

[edit] Game 19 vs. Gentleman Vilin

Your aide tries to dissuade you from going, but you know that this is a matter of honor. You put on your best armor and tuck your favorite dagger into your boot. Time to meet Mr. Dragon.

Kingdom cards: Oracle, Jack of all Trades, Inn, Tunnel, Duchess, Scheme, Oasis, Stables, Mandarin, Nomad Camp

[edit] Boss Game 20 vs. Dragon, Squire Brockton, and Soldier

Dragon congratulates you on stealing his fortune and offers you a proposition: fight him in front of his soldiers, and the winner takes all. First blood ends the battle. You size him up and think that you have agility on your side (Dragon's pretty big). OK, here goes.

Kingdom cards: Ill-Gotten Gains, Trader, Embassy, Farmland, Silk Road, Oasis, Cartographer, Scheme, Crossroads, Haggler

[edit] Epilogue

You throw off your heavy armor and gain maneuvering speed. Dragon lunges, and you counter with a quick slice to his cheek with your trusty dagger. You win! Dragon's conscripted army cheers, and you realize that this land will now be yours.
