These are chips that players may earn by playing certain cards, namely {{Card|Monument}}, {{Card|Bishop}}, and {{Card|Goons}}. With Monument, the player gains one victory token per time the card is played. Bishop is the same way with the added bonus of gaining the number of victory tokens equal to half the trashed card's cost in {{Cost|}}, rounded down. Goons gives the player one victory token per card bought that turn.

Some Dominion sets, in addition to cards, provide other materials.

Contents

Player mats

Player mats (playmats or mats for short) are pieces of cardboard used by certain cards to set aside resources for future use. IslandIsland.jpg sets aside cards on a mat until the end of the game. Pirate ShipPirate Ship.jpg and Trade RouteTrade Route.jpg set aside Tokens on a mat to keep track of $ they generate when played. Native VillageNative Village.jpg sets cards aside to be drawn later. MonumentMonument.jpg, GoonsGoons.jpg and BishopBishop.jpg all set aside VP tokens to be scored at the end of the game. The Tavern mat is a place to keep your Reserve cards until you call them.

Tokens

A token is a metal piece used in Dominion. They are used by a number of cards to keep track of numbers. EmbargoEmbargo.jpg has its own set of tokens to mark Embargoed cards. Trade RouteTrade Route.jpg and Pirate ShipPirate Ship.jpg share the same design of token, used to keep track of $ they generate when played. MonumentMonument.jpg, GoonsGoons.jpg and BishopBishop.jpg all refer to VP tokens, which grant points at the end of the game to whoever has them.

Victory tokens

Victory tokens (or VP tokens, denoted by the symbol VP) are featured in the Prosperity and Empires sets, and are an example of alt-VP. These are chips that players may earn by playing certain cards, buying certain Events, or meeting the conditions of certain Landmarks.

Coin tokens

Coin tokens are a feature of the Guilds set. These tokens can be taken by playing certain cards.

  • With Candlestick MakerCandlestick Maker.jpg and BakerBaker.jpg the player takes one Coin token per time the card is played;
  • With PlazaPlaza.jpg the player may discard one treasure card to taken a Coin token;
  • With Merchant GuildMerchant Guild.jpg the player takes one Coin token per bought card for every Merchant Guild in play;
  • With ButcherButcher.jpg the player takes two Coin tokens per play. The player can also spend Coin tokens to gain a more expensive card.

Tokens of the same design are used for Pirate ShipPirate Ship.jpg and Trade RouteTrade Route.jpg, but should not be mixed up.

Adventures tokens

Adventures comes with 10 different tokens, a set in each of 6 player colors. They are made of cardboard, in contrast to the other tokens, which are made of metal. Some provide a vanilla bonus for Action card Supply piles they're on, others act as penalties, and the rest have a variety of effects. They are used by several different cards and Events.

Debt tokens

Debt tokens (denoted by the symbol D) are a feature of Empires, and provide an alternate cost to certain cards and Events. When buying a card or Event with a D cost, the player takes the specified number of Debt tokens, as well as paying any additional cost. While in Debt, players may not buy any cards or Events. D may be paid off at any time during a player's Buy phase after finishing playing Treasures (or spending Coin tokens), at a rate of $1 for 1D. A card, an Event, and a Landmark provide additional ways to accumulate D.
