Not to be confused with Dominion: Adventures

Dominion Adventures are a series of single-player games on Goko with pre-determined kingdoms serving to introduce players to the cards of the relevant expansion, as well as to tell a story involving the player's in-game kingdom and family. These adventures are considered a variant, rather than true Dominion, due to the fact that the player can use a currency called "Zaps" to alter their, and their opponents', starting hands, which are already altered to begin with, either in favor of the player or the computer opponent(s), depending on the difficulty. 2 Zaps are available to the player automatically each game, and more are available through purchase, either with Coins (earned through playing games, either Adventures, against bots, or multiplayer) or Gokoins (paid for by credit card), though the latter is only possible through purchasing multiple expansions in a bundle, with the Zaps included as a bonus, preventing players from "paying to win." Adventures are the only way to acquire Victory Points (not to be confused with the in-game quantity), which are used in the Goko Store to buy Promo cards.

Structure

The Base Set and each normal-sized expansion has three Adventures associated with it - an Act 1, an Act 2, and a Finale. Dark Ages has an extra Act 3, due to its large number of cards, and Alchemy and Cornucopia each only have one Act. So far, no Adventures have been released for Guilds. Act 1 of the Base Set is automatically available, and all non-Finale Acts from expansions are unlocked when their set is purchased in the Store. The rest must be purchased separately from the Store using Coins. Finales may not be played until all other Acts from that set are completed (with the exception of the Dark Ages Finale, which is immediately playable).

Each individual Adventure comprises 20 games and an epilogue, where every fourth game is a Boss battle, usually against multiple players. Winning a game gives the player Coins, and Boss battles additionally give the player Victory Points. Each game is preceded by a short text telling part of the story arc of the overall campaign. The cards used to make kingdoms for an Adventure are drawn only from the Base set and the relevant expansion half-set; Finales include cards from the Base set and the entire relevant expansion.
