There are currently thirteen DominionDominion.jpg (October 2008) expansions; each introduces a particular gameplay concept or mechanism to the game, or focuses on a different aspect of gameplay:

  • AdventuresAdventures.jpg, (April 2015) a large expansion of 30 Kingdom cards, revisits Duration cards, introduces Reserve cards and Events, which are on-buy effects that aren't cards. It also provides cardboard tokens that can modify cards, or track card or Event effects.
  • EmpiresEmpires.jpg, (June 2016) a large expansion of 24 Kingdom cards, introduces the Debt D mechanic, Split piles, Gathering cards, and Landmarks, and also reintroduces VP tokens (+VP) and Events.
  • NocturneNocturne.jpg, (November 2017) an extra-large expansion of 33 Kingdom cards, introduces Night cards to be used in a fourth phase, Heirlooms, which modify players' starting hands, and Boons and Hexes, which offer a way to receive/inflict good and bad random effects, and also focuses on gaining and using cards from outside the Supply.
