At the start of your Buy phase, return this, and Silver and Gold make this turn. |

FAQ
Official FAQ
- This causes Silver and Gold to make when you played in your Buy phase for one turn, rather than their usual and , starting in the Buy phase.
- It does not affect other Treasures, just Silver and Gold.
- If you get Envious during your turn before the Buy phase (such as with Leprechaun), it will apply that turn; normally it will apply to your next turn.
Other rules clarifications
- Silvers and Golds played before your Buy phase, such as by Storyteller, are not affected.
- Once you return Envious, it will affect your Silvers and Golds for the rest of the turn, even if you return to the Action phase with Villa or Cavalry and then start a new Buy phase.

Trivia
Art
I think that's fish in a bottle, envious of the other fish?
The artists were told they could make the Hexes surreal, though only a few did. And I remembered how great the art on Ill-Gotten Gains was, and we asked Jason Slavin, who hadn't worked for us in some years, to do some pieces. And I mean they're great; Envy is a little confusing but it's a cool image. Bad Omens is him too.
Secret History
Envious made cards cost more (which has rules issues), then made you discard cards to buy cards. In place of Misery there was Confused, which made you discard a card after each Action card you played. And Confused and Envious both stuck around until you met a condition, they could last turn after turn. For the biggest hunk of that you could get rid of them by gaining a Treasure; sometimes you would spend your turn buying a Copper to end the madness. The Contraband Deluded was tracked by having your hand revealed; in the end Deluded and Envious are on the same card, so as to use a card.
Why does Envious not affect other treasures?
We know everything about Silver and Gold, and can say they make $1 without needing to clarify what happens to below-the-line text or what have you.
