Haunted Castle is a Victory-Castle card from Empires. It comes with a free Gold when you gain it, and also has an on-gain handsize attack effect although it does not have the the Attack type.

- Haunted Castle works whether you buy it or gain it some other way, provided that it is your turn.
Other rules clarifications
- Unlike Ghost Ship, if they have more than 5 cards in hand, they only put 2 of them back.
- If gaining this activates when-gain abilities for another player (such as Road Network or Black Cat), you do Haunted Castle's ability first (assuming you gained it on your own turn).
- Just like Ill-Gotten Gains and Raid, Haunted Castle is not an Attack, so it cannot be responded to with Horse Traders, and it cannot be blocked with Moat.

Preview
Ghost Ship’s attack sure is harsh. It’s a good thing that Haunted Castle’s only happens once per game. Plus you get a free Gold when you gain it!
Secret History
There were a couple cards in the Haunted Castle slot. I tried a Castle that shuffled cards from discard into deck, after an old outtake; I tried a one-time Cursing one (like Ill-Gotten Gains). Haunted Castle couldn't work at weird times (such as when gaining it with Saboteur) and so ended up saying "on your turn," to be as friendly as possible (still works with Small Castle) while shutting out weirdness.
Why is the wording different from Ghost Ship?
Ghost Ship got a horrible wording to try to match Militia. So Haunted Castle ditches that for a drastically better wording. I am not the tiniest bit bothered by the chart of what it does to what handsize. It's simple, it does the trick.
