- When playing Dame Anna, you may choose to trash zero, one, or two cards from your hand.
Other Rules clarifications
- "If a Knight is trashed by this" only applies to the attack portion of Dame Anna's ability. If you use the first part of her ability to trash a Knight from your own hand, that won't make you trash Dame Anna.
Strategy
For overall Knight strategy, refer to the Knights strategy section. Dame Anna can be a particularly valuable Knight if no other trashing is available, especially if she is near the top of the Knights pile.

Wording
It's ambiguous if the "if a Knight was trashed by this" also applies to Dame Anna's "trash up to 2 cards from your hand."
I think the fact that all the other Knights have that same attack ability, combined with a complete lack of interest in tracking your own Knights except possibly Sir Vander, means most people are never thinking to ask this question. And in fact over the years this has not remotely been a FAQ.
I could consider putting it in the rulebook, even though these days I try to avoid answering questions there that people don't actually ask, however any such changes have to also have room for them, and wait until we're getting a new printing of the expansion, and then I have to remember it. The card text is already way too wordy, but there's no good fix there while keeping the cards in print. I guess you could keyword it, but nothing in Dominion is like that.
