+2 Actions + At the start of your next turn: +1 Action and + . |
Fishing Village is an Action-Duration card from Seaside. It is a very effective village; it gives +2 Actions this turn and +1 Action next turn, and also gives + both this turn and next turn, giving you as much purchasing power as a Silver and as many actions as if you had a Village both this turn and the turn after.

Strategy
Fishing Village is a strong village and often enables the creation of reliable engines. Compared to other villages, it may be useful earlier—occasionally even in the opening—because it also generates similar to that of a Silver ( in total per stop card). Otherwise, you’ll typically add copies as needed, once you have a few terminals that risk colliding. In the presence of stronger villages (e.g. Champion or Wandering Minstrel) or in Kingdoms without good terminals, Fishing Village may be less relevant.
Fishing Village’s Duration nature greatly increases the reliability of your deck by ensuring that next turn you will have no need to find another village to generate a spare Action at the start of your turn. This significantly reduces the risk of a dud if you are using terminal draw such as Smithy or Scholar. As with other Duration cards, it’s usually a good idea to have two or more Fishing Villages, so that you can play them on alternating turns and ensure a consistent village effect at the start of each of your turns.
Fishing Village’s main downside is that it is a stop card, and so you’ll need more draw to support using it; however, as you only have to draw it once to get a village effect on two turns, it compares favorably on this front with other stop card villages such as Festival. Being a stop card is also less of a concern with draw-to-X engines, which will draw a card to replace the Fishing Village played and appreciate the small amount of payload it provides.

† The line separating start-of-turn abilities is unwarranted and was removed in later print runs. This matters e.g. when you are Enchanted or you use a Way.
