+ Look at the top 5 cards of your deck. Either discard all of them, or put them back on top of your deck in any order. |
Navigator is an Action card from Seaside. It is a terminal Silver, meaning that it gives you + but no +Action; it is also a deck inspector, so when played, it lets you look at the next 5 cards in your deck and discard them if you don't like them. It can be used to extremely speed up cycling, and can help you skip past all of your bad cards.

FAQ
Official FAQ
- You discard all 5 cards or none of them.
- If you don't discard them, put them back in any order. If there aren't 5 cards left in your deck, look at as many as you can, then shuffle your discard pile (not including the cards you are currently looking at),and look at the rest.
- If there still aren't 5, you just look at however many are left, and put them back or discard them.

Strategy Article
Navigator is a pretty simple card. It can increase your deck cycling by 5 cards at a time, making it one of the consistently strongest cyclers. It can also let you pick whether to keep your next hand or not, which can be useful if you're looking to hit particular cards (like cursers,Rebuild,Governor) or price points (such as for Gold or for Province in Big Money games), or if your deck is filled with junk (like Curses, Ruins, or alt-VP). If you skip a hand where you wouldn't have played or bought anything (like 5 plain Victory cards), it's like having a free turn!
If you have enough skill (which most simulators don't), then Big Money+Navigator is a match for Big Money+Smithy, as well as being resistant to Attacks that give you junk or muck up your deck. Navigator–Big Money can typically get 30 points in 11–14 turns if you use Navigator right.
The ability to re-order the cards revealed by Navigator can be of assistance to a player deploying an engine using Village or other draw-type cards to fix the cards drawn later in the turn (either to add more coin or Action cards into the turn, or to deliberately draw Victory cards with surplus draws in order to make the next hand better). Similarly, Navigator can be used to set up cards for Loan and Venture to draw during the buy phase.
Synergies/Combos
- Big Money
- critical -like Mountebank, Rebuild, Governor, Butcher, etc...
- Cursers and Looters—especially Familiar since it's nonterminal.
- Ill-Gotten Gains games
- Navigator's discard ability can trigger Tunnel's Gold-gaining ability.
- Loan, Venture. Venture can also use for Big money.
- Herald
- Navigator can resist Attacks that muck with your deck order like Bureaucrat, Ghost Ship, Rabble
- Navigator can also resist Curse-giving attacks and Looters (sometimes)
Antisynergies
- Weak cantrips (especially Pearl Diver, Vagrant) disturb your judge whether you should discard 5 cards.
- Heavy trashers will get rid of weak cards you want to discard.
