Official FAQ
- When you play this, draw 4 cards.
- If this is trashed, you either gain a Duchy or 3 Estates, your choice.
- These cards come from the Supply and are put into your discard pile.
- If you choose the 3 Estates and there are not 3 left, just gain as many as you can.
Other Rules clarifications
- If you trash Hunting Grounds and the Duchy pile is empty, you can still choose Duchy (and gain nothing).

Hunting Grounds hasn't been discussed much. If you have better ideas for how to use it, let us know on the forums!
It's the most powerful terminal card draw available in Dominion, but also the most expensive. It can be a high-variance card, since when exactly you get your first and whether you match up your Hunting Grounds to your Villages early can be decisive. When building an engine with Hunting Grounds you have to keep in mind that you WILL have difficulty hitting consistently.
The when-trashed ability does not get much use. It's not even that good of a defense against trashing attacks, because in the early and mid-game getting a Duchy hurts rather than helps.
Synergies/Combos
- Perhaps it works with Villages that give , so buying them up helps you buy your Hunting Grounds?
- Especially Festival, but also Bazaar and Fishing Village and Bandit Camp
- Procession on a card is a great way of getting Hunting Grounds.
- Things worth buying in bulk with - that won't gum up an engine.
Antisynergies
- Villages which do not give . If you don't buy too many of them, then you're buying Silvers and by the time you get your Hunting Grounds you'll never have it meet up with a Village. If you buy a lot of them, then you have no economy with which to buy Hunting Grounds.
