Official FAQ
You draw a card first, then look at the top 4 cards of your deck. If there are fewer that 4 cards left in your deck, look at the remaining cards, and shuffle your discard pile (which does not include those cards) to get the remainder needed to look at. If there are still not enough cards, just look at as many as you can. Discard any number of the cards you looked at – none, all four, or something in-between – and put the rest back on top of your deck in any order. If there were no cards left in your deck, these become the only cards in your deck. You do not reveal the cards you put back.
