- If you have at least one card in your hand, then you must trash one.
- If you don't have a card in hand left to trash, you get no coins, but still get the +1 Buy.
Other Rules clarifications
- Salvager only looks at the cost in coins; you do not get a ◉ for trasing a card with ◉ in its cost.
Strategy Article
There isn't a Salvager strategy article.
Early in the game, Salvager is best for trashing Estates for +. Late-game, Salvager can be used to trash expensive cards like Gold to get you that last bit of cash you need for the Province or Colony. Using Salvager to trash a Province for +, enough to buy another copy of it, can be used to speed up the end of the game. Deciding when to start trashing your good cards is a critical strategic decision.
