The best ones to receive early include The Flame's Gift and The Swamp's Gift, as they provide strong early trashing and draw respectively; situationally, several of the others can help you cycle your deck, generate an extra 2 to let you afford an expensive card, or provide a chance to gain more cheap cards (often including a replacement Pixie). If you’re offered an unhelpful Boon, you can simply save your Pixie till later; as a cantrip, it’s rarely an active hindrance for your deck. + | Since Pixie’s bonus is a conditional one-shot that can only be activated by trashing it, it has a minor synergy with Lurker, which allows you to regain Action cards from the trash. For the same reason, however, Command cards and Throne Room variants combine somewhat less well with Pixie than with many other cards. For example, using Band of Misfits to play Pixie provides only the cantrip effect (while also cycling the Boons deck); Throne Room a Pixie can be more useful, e.g. for the village effect and because it provides a second option for the Boon if you don’t want to take the first, but you still can’t receive two different Boons with a single copy of Pixie. | ||

Pixie is an Action-Fate card from Nocturne. It's essentially a cantrip one-shot that allows you to double a Boon; but it allows you to see what Boon is coming and figure out if you want it before you decide whether to trash the Pixie and receive the Boon. Games using Pixie include the Heirloom Goat.

- If you receive a Boon that says to keep it until Clean-up, move it to in front of you, and remember that you get it twice.
- In games using Pixie, replace one of your starting Coppers with a Goat.

Pixie is a cheap cantrip that offers you the option of a one-shot bonus in the form of a Boon received twice. Although rarely a centralising card, it makes for a helpful addition to most decks, and it can occasionally be critical as a way to access an important Boon. In comparison to most other Fate cards, Pixie’s significant advantage is that it offers some control over which Boons you receive and when you receive them; luck is still involved, but you can at least pass up suboptimal or actively harmful Boons, hold out for the ones that will help you the most, and cycle towards the latter by playing Pixies repeatedly.
Pixie’s Heirloom also has an important impact on the game: Goat means that trashing is always readily available, promoting engine-building. Furthermore, the fact that you start with Goat in your deck accelerates the process of building, both by removing junk from your early shuffles and sometimes by de-prioritising the acquisition of other trashers, freeing up your initial buys to add draw and payload more quickly than usual.
Opening with a Pixie is often a good choice, as several of the Boons offer extremely helpful effects for your first couple of shuffles. The best ones to receive early include The Flame's Gift and The Swamp's Gift, as they provide strong early trashing and draw respectively; situationally, several of the others can help you cycle your deck, generate an extra to let you afford an expensive card, or provide a chance to gain more cheap cards (often including a replacement Pixie). If you’re offered an unhelpful Boon, you can simply save your Pixie till later; as a cantrip, it’s rarely an active hindrance for your deck. When the opportunity cost of gaining Pixies is low (usually because extra buys are easy to come by and it has no particular competition at ), it’s common to take several, and the pile can sometimes run out quickly.
Pixie can be especially important in Kingdoms that otherwise lack sources of gains. The Earth's Gift and The Forest's Gift each provide the chance to gain two cards; in the late game, extra Estates or other Victory cards may be decisive if there’s no other way to obtain them without passing up a Province, so gaining and holding onto a Pixie or two in the hope that you can take these Boons (and deny them to your opponents) could be strategically crucial.
Since Pixie’s bonus is a conditional one-shot that can only be activated by trashing it, it has a minor synergy with Lurker, which allows you to regain Action cards from the trash. For the same reason, however, Command cards and Throne Room variants combine somewhat less well with Pixie than with many other cards. For example, using Band of Misfits to play Pixie provides only the cantrip effect (while also cycling the Boons deck); Throning a Pixie can be more useful, e.g. for the village effect and because it provides a second option for the Boon if you don’t want to take the first, but you still can’t receive two different Boons with a single copy of Pixie.
