There is no strategy article for Treasure Trove yet, as Adventures is still quite new, and the community is still discussing how best to use it. If you have ideas, please share them on the forum!
+
Treasure Trove is typically best thought of as a Gold gainer whose usability is primarily dependent on your ability to handle the Copper that it also gains. Its effect of adding two stop cards to your deck every time you play it is very demanding in terms of deck control and draw, especially given that one of its gains is junk in most cases. Therefore, Treasure Trove is most likely to be a good option for payload if you can manage the Copper easily, if you actively want them, or if you’re not aiming to establish deck control in any case.

Many cards in Adventures favor strong engines. Treasure Trove is a big exception to this rule. It gains you a metric ton of Treasures (hence its name), clogging up your deck if you want to build any type of engine, but drastically increasing your money density in Big Money and slogs. It should, in the vast majority of cases, not be bought in engines at all, as even with Storyteller your engine will just not come together, but its sheer power as a Big Money and slog card can definitely make you reconsider some of the weaker engines. One exception to the 'don't-buy-it-in-engines' rule might be when you are overdrawing your deck, you need a lot of payload quickly, and there is strong Copper trashing available.
+
In an engine context, Treasure Trove requires a confluence of factors in order to be worth the downsides, but it might be attractive if you want to add multiple Gold to your deck quickly. These might be for use as payload directly (if there is +Buy and no better alternative payload, or no other way to gain it readily), or as fodder for trash-for-benefit effects such as Bishop. In either case, it’s generally best to gain Treasure Trove only once you’ve achieved deck control and have the tools to maintain it, which typically entails removing the Copper as quickly as you gain them. Ways to do this include Watchtower (which can trash them immediately, meaning you never need to draw them) and Monastery (whose trashing effect is boosted by Treasure Trove itself). However, Treasure Trove may be especially desirable if you can make active use of the Copper: for example, if your only source of +Buy is Forager and gains are otherwise difficult to come by, they might make useful fodder for it.

How many Treasure Troves do you want? In Big Money, you usually don't want more than two; by the time you get two, you might already be almost ready to green. In slogs, you might want a couple more. I've personally gotten up to five Treasure Troves on a board with Duke and Familiar without trashing, and managed to win while ignoring Familiar.
+
Treasure Trove can also be a useful addition to a money strategy given you likely are not aiming to achieve deck control anyway. In this case, the increase in money density from the added Treasures is more relevant than the potential negative effect of the Copper. Sifters such as Dungeon can be particularly useful as they can help you find your Treasure Troves and Gold more consistently.

Synergies
+
Occasionally, because it gains two cards with a single play and takes up no terminal space, Treasure Trove can be useful with effects that reward you for gaining many cards. Guildhall is particularly notable, allowing you to quickly amass Coffers, while other effects such as Triumph or Garrison can be used to benefit in other ways. Playing Treasure Trove many times over the course of a game can additionally lead to scoring many VP with effects such as Keep or Gardens.
* Any other Big Money enablers: Gear, Embassy
+
* Alt-VP, especially Alt-VP that makes you want to go for a slog anyway: Gardens, Duke, Silk Road.
+
* Copper trashing: Moneylender and friends, Forager, Counterfeit
+
* Watchtower can trash the coppers as you gain them; Trader gets you a Silver instead
+

Anti-Synergies
+
Some effects such as Herb Gatherer may allow you to play Treasure Trove during your Action phase. This in turn allows you to gain-and-play the Treasures gained by Treasure Trove, greatly accelerating its overall impact on your payload. Storyteller is the most notable example of such an effect, as it is both non-terminal and can use the Gold for draw, while somewhat mitigating the impact of the Copper on your deck control.
* Strong engines
+
* Colony games

[edit] Official FAQ

 • This is a Treasure worth $2.
 • You play it in your Buy phase, like other Treasures.
 • When you play it, you gain a CopperCopper.jpg and a GoldGold.jpg from the Supply, putting them into your discard pile.
 • If one of those piles is empty, you still gain the other card.

[edit] Strategy

Treasure Trove is typically best thought of as a GoldGold.jpg gainer whose usability is primarily dependent on your ability to handle the CopperCopper.jpg that it also gains. Its effect of adding two stop cards to your deck every time you play it is very demanding in terms of deck control and draw, especially given that one of its gains is junk in most cases. Ways to do this include WatchtowerWatchtower.jpg (which can trash them immediately, meaning you never need to draw them) and MonasteryMonastery.jpg (whose trashing effect is boosted by Treasure Trove itself). However, Treasure Trove may be especially desirable if you can make active use of the CoppersCopper.jpg: for example, if your only source of +Buy is ForagerForager.jpg and gains are otherwise difficult to come by, they might make useful fodder for it.

Treasure Trove can also be a useful addition to a money strategy given you likely are not aiming to achieve deck control anyway.
